Add your starting screen to OBS

The free Signal screen is a local HTML file. Its text, graphic shapes and styles travel together. You don’t need to upload it or sign into a streaming account to preview it.

Personalize and download

Open the studio, enter your channel name and audience line, then pick a palette. If you prefer a static screen, select Pause motion. Download free screen always exports Starting Soon, even if another scene is selected for preview.

Add a local Browser Source

In OBS, choose the scene where you want the starting screen.
Under Sources, select + and choose Browser.
Give the source a name you recognize, such as Signal Starting.
Enable Local file and choose the downloaded HTML file.
Set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080, then confirm.
If needed, use OBS’s transform options to fit the source to your canvas.

These steps follow the official Browser Source reference. OBS describes local-file loading and width/height settings. Actual capture and performance testing of this new collection is still pending, so test a short private recording in your own setup.

If the screen is blank or cropped

Use Browser Source, not Media Source: the download is HTML, not MP4.
Keep the file in a stable folder. Moving it can break the source’s file reference.
Check the Local file path and 1920 × 1080 dimensions.
Refresh the browser source after replacing a file.
The source does not need camera, microphone, network or account permissions.

Know what this file does

It displays an animated or static visual screen. It does not start a broadcast, count down, play music or connect to chat. Motion follows the exported setting and browser reduced-motion support. Reopen the studio to generate a new version when you change your text.

The site personalizer does not save your text automatically. Keep the downloaded file. Free-screen usage permissions cover your own monetized streams.
